FAQ
MF-55 has mixed methoxy/imino functionality that allows some self-condensation even without external acid catalyst, enabling cure at lower temperatures (120–130°C vs 130–150°C for HMMM). However, self-condensation produces methanol/formaldehyde byproduct and requires good ventilation. MF-55 gives harder films with higher crosslink density but more brittleness; HMMM gives more flexible films and lower formaldehyde release. MF-55 is preferred in industrial primers requiring maximum chemical resistance.
