Monofunctional aziridines are chosen when intermediate crosslink density is needed without the gel risk inherent in high-functionality grades. They are useful in high-solids waterborne inks (acid value 10–30 mg KOH/g) where over-crosslinking causes premature gelation. They also offer a lower sensitisation risk profile vs polyfunctional aziridines, though all aziridine compounds require appropriate respiratory and skin PPE.
