FAQ
IPDI's alicyclic structure provides excellent UV and heat stability, producing non-yellowing PU coatings — unlike TDI/MDI aromatic structures which yelllow under UV. IPDI has two isocyanate groups of different reactivity (asymmetric: ring-NCO ~10× more reactive than aliphatic-NCO at 25°C), enabling selective stepwise reaction to produce monoadducts with polyols before cyclotrimerisation or biuretisation. This asymmetry is exploited in custom crosslinker production for UV-stable automotive and exterior coatings.
