FAQ
Silicone additives can be used in UV systems but require careful selection. Non-reactive silicones may migrate and create surface defects or cause delamination between UV layers. More critically, some silicone compounds contain UV-absorbing moieties that compete with photoinitiators, reducing cure speed and depth. For critical UV applications (electronics, food packaging), use non-silicone defoamers confirmed to be UV-transparent (low absorption at 300–400 nm). Alternatively, use reactive silicone defoamers that are incorporated into the cure network.
