AMP-95 (2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol, Multifunctional Amine)

AMP-95 (2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol) provides several benefits beyond simple pH adjustment: (1) As a neutralizer, it ionizes anionic groups in resins more efficiently than ammonia, requiring lower dosage; (2) Its hydroxyl group provides a coalescent effect that improves film formation at lower temperature; (3) The amine is a corrosion inhibitor at the metal interface—valuable in direct-to-metal waterborne coatings; (4) AMP-95 acts as a synergist with in-can biocides (isothiazolinones), improving biocide efficacy at lower biocide dosage. Ammonia achieves only the first function at lower cost but with pungent odor and instability at higher pH.
