FAQ
TiO2 slurry at 70% solids eliminates the need for a dedicated dispersion/milling step in the paint plant: the pigment is already at optimal particle size (0.3–0.4 µm d50) and can be added directly to the let-down mixer. This saves energy (no bead mill required), reduces cycle time, and avoids inconsistencies caused by variable in-plant dispersion efficiency. Quality benefits include: tighter PSD control (less oversize particles that reduce opacity), better batch-to-batch consistency in tinting strength and hiding power, and reduced air quality issues from handling dry TiO2 powder. The main trade-off is higher transport weight (slurry vs powder) and the need for adequate storage tank capacity.
