Silicone-Free Defoamer NSF-400 (Waterborne, Recoatable)

Use silicone-free defoamers whenever the coating system has strict recoatability requirements without sanding between coats (e.g., automotive waterborne basecoat/clearcoat wet-on-wet, multi-coat wood lacquers). Silicone migration to the film surface creates a release layer that prevents adhesion of subsequent coats. Silicone-free alternatives (polyether, mineral oil, or fatty acid ester-based) provide equivalent defoaming at slightly higher dosage without contamination risk. Also mandatory for coatings applied to substrates that will be bonded or printed.
