FAQ
A-174 (methacryloyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane) is a bifunctional molecule: the trimethoxysilyl group hydrolyzes in the presence of moisture to form silanols, which condense with hydroxyl groups on mineral surfaces (glass, silica, alumina) to form stable Si-O-Metal covalent bonds. The methacryloyl group at the other end is reactive towards free-radical polymerization, enabling covalent bonding into acrylate, methacrylate, and unsaturated polyester resins. This molecular bridge between the inorganic filler/fiber and organic matrix dramatically improves composite wet strength retention, adhesion durability, and hydrolytic stability.
