Polysorbate 80 (Tween-80)

Tween-80 at 0.1–0.3% effectively reduces dynamic surface tension in waterborne paints, improving wetting of chalky substrates and reducing cratering on glossy surfaces. However, it is more foam-prone than acetylenic diol wetting agents and should be paired with an antifoam. For critical high-gloss systems, acetylenic diol types (Surfynol series) are preferred.
