Standard mineral oil or polyether defoamers lose efficacy above 120–150°C as viscosity drops and the defoaming mechanism (spreading coefficient) reverses. Polysiloxane-based defoamers maintain their surface activity and defoaming efficiency at 180–250°C stoving conditions. They also have low vapor pressure and do not contribute to VOC. Select a defoamer whose boiling/decomposition point exceeds the peak metal temperature (PMT) of your baking schedule.
