Low MW polyacrylates (3,000–8,000 Da) are highly efficient grinding aids: they adsorb quickly and stabilize freshly broken pigment surfaces, giving low viscosity during high-speed dispersion. They are best for inorganic pigments (TiO2, extenders). High MW polyacrylates (15,000–30,000 Da) provide stronger steric stabilization suitable for organic pigments and carbon black but may increase mill viscosity. Choose MW based on pigment surface chemistry and target application rheology.
