In coatings, primary concerns are: (1) worker inhalation during powder handling—wet dispersion avoids this risk; (2) environmental release during coating lifecycle—ZnO nanoparticles are ecotoxic to aquatic organisms above specific concentrations; (3) consumer safety for leave-on applications (cosmetics, toys). For industrial coatings applied in controlled settings with no aquatic discharge, nano ZnO dispersions are generally compliant.
