Is HUP-50 compatible with acid-catalyzed melamine-crosslinked topcoats?

Basic HALS can neutralize acid catalysts and retard cure in melamine-formaldehyde or blocked isocyanate systems. HUP-50 uses an N-alkylated oligomeric HALS with reduced basicity (pKa ~5.5), significantly reducing catalyst interference. A 10–20% increase in catalyst level may still be needed; bench cure trials are recommended before production use. For strongly acidic 2K systems, a fully N-substituted HALS grade is preferable.
