The glycidoxypropyl epoxide groups at both chain ends react with hydroxyl groups on cellulosic fibers and with amine/anhydride catalysts at curing temperatures (140–170°C), forming covalent bonds. This anchors the silicone permanently to the fiber, surviving 20–50 wash cycles. Non-reactive PDMS emulsions rely on adsorption alone and wash off after a few cycles.
