FAQ
Both DPM and PnB are glycol ether cosolvents but differ in water miscibility and volatility. DPM is completely water-miscible and has a higher boiling point (190°C vs 170°C for PnB), making it a slower-evaporating cosolvent that stays in the film longer to extend open time and improve brush/roller leveling. PnB is only partially water-miscible, forming a separate phase that partitions strongly into the latex particles, making it a more efficient coalescent per gram. For hot/dry application conditions (brush application in summer), DPM is preferred; for minimum-VOC critical applications, PnB gives more coalescence per VOC gram added.
