DCOIT Antifouling Biocide 30% (4,5-Dichloro-2-n-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one)

DCOIT (Sea-Nine 211 type) is a non-metal, broad-spectrum biocide effective against bacteria, fungi, algae, and macro-fouling organisms including barnacles and mussels. Unlike cuprous oxide, DCOIT does not accumulate in sediments as a metal and degrades rapidly in seawater (half-life of ~1 day in seawater). It is often used as a co-biocide with copper in self-polishing copolymer systems to extend protection and reduce copper loading. DCOIT alone or with zinc pyrithione is used in copper-free antifouling systems compliant with stricter port regulations.
