FAQ

In solventborne epoxy: benzyl alcohol acts as a reactive diluent that lowers viscosity for application while being incorporated into the amine-cured epoxy network—it does not reduce film solids or leave a residue. It also accelerates amine-epoxy cure at ambient temperature (particularly useful for low-temperature application). In waterborne epoxy: benzyl alcohol is used as a coalescent that partitions into the epoxy particle, aids film formation, then slowly evaporates—not chemically incorporated. The dual functionality (viscosity reduction + cure acceleration) in solventborne systems is the primary value proposition.
