PG 17 viridian is the hydrated form (Cr₂O₃·2H₂O) with a bright, bluish-green tone and lower refractive index. The anhydrous chrome oxide green (also CI PG 17) is darker and more yellowish. Note: some indexing conflates these — confirm CAS 12001-99-9 for viridian.
