FAQ
Precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) is synthetically produced by carbonation of lime slurry, giving a controlled particle size (typically 0.5–3 µm), narrow size distribution, and high purity (≥98.5% CaCO3). Ground calcium carbonate (GCC) is mechanically milled from natural limestone, resulting in a broader particle size range, higher surface area variation, and moderate purity. In coatings, PCC contributes better gloss, tighter opacity control, and lower binder demand compared to GCC, making it preferred in high-quality interior latex paints and paper coatings.
