MEK has a slower evaporation rate than acetone (evaporation rate ~3.5 vs acetone ~5.6 relative to n-BuAc=1), which gives better flow and leveling in lacquer and PU coatings. It is also a stronger solvent for vinyl and acrylic resins, making it preferred in gravure inks and industrial coatings.
