Zinc calcium molybdate offers complementary corrosion inhibition to zinc phosphate. Molybdate ions are cathodic inhibitors that passivate steel by forming insoluble molybdate complexes on cathodic sites, while zinc phosphate acts as an anodic inhibitor. Combining both at 5–10% PVC each typically outperforms either alone in salt spray and cyclic corrosion tests.
