Water causes blushing (white haze) in nitrocellulose-based gravure inks at humidity above 60 % RH. Even 0.1 % residual water in the solvent can destabilize NC solutions and cause precipitation, especially at low temperatures. Ink-grade EtOAc with ≤0.05 % water minimizes this risk and ensures consistent viscosity throughout the press run.
