FAQ
SBL-50 added at 15–30% (on cement weight, as dry polymer) to Portland cement mortars acts as a polymer modifier that creates a continuous polymer film network interpenetrating the cement hydration matrix. The butadiene segments provide flexibility (elongation 150–300%) that bridges microcracking in cementitious substrates, while the styrene segments contribute strength and adhesion. Polymer-modified mortars using SBL-50 achieve bond strength >2 MPa to concrete (vs <0.5 MPa for unmodified mortar), water permeability resistance (DIN 1048 <2 mm penetration), and excellent freeze-thaw durability (>50 cycles with <5% mass loss). Practical formulation: mix SBL-50 as mixing liquid replacing 40–60% of water in cement:sand (1:3) mortar. Key applications: concrete repair mortars, tanking slurry for basement waterproofing, tile adhesives, and swimming pool render coats.
