AAE-50 resolves the fundamental tension between the pure alkyd's advantage (oxidative cure → excellent gloss and adhesion) and the pure acrylic's advantage (UV stability, fast dry, low VOC). The acrylic polymer phase provides the stable emulsion particle structure and UV resistance; the alkyd component undergoes oxidative crosslinking on drying (promoted by drier salts), producing the leveling and gloss associated with traditional solventborne alkyds. Resulting 60° gloss ≥75 units matches solventborne alkyds; VOC ≤80 g/L meets EU Directive Category A decorative limits; salt spray resistance >300 h exceeds most pure acrylic systems. The main limitation is extended initial water sensitivity (48 h before resistance develops fully), addressed by avoiding water contact for 72 h post-application.
