FAQ
In SAR-7060, the styrene content of 35–45% provides higher hardness (pencil hardness ≥H), better gloss retention, and lower cost compared to all-acrylic solutions, because styrene is a lower-cost hard monomer (Tg +100°C as homopolymer). However, the aromatic styrene units photooxidize via Norrish reactions under UV, causing chalking after 500–1000 hours outdoor exposure. For this reason, SAR-7060 is designed for interior industrial applications or outdoor primers that will be overcoated: metal furniture topcoats, rust-preventive workshop coatings, industrial maintenance primers, and package printing inks. For exterior UV-stable coatings, the pure acrylic alternatives (MMA/BA/AA systems) are preferred despite higher cost. SAR-7060's main advantage is cost efficiency: 15–20% lower than equivalent pure acrylic at equal film properties indoors.
