FAQ
PVAc has limited water resistance (the ester bond is susceptible to hydrolysis) and poor alkali resistance, making it unsuitable for exterior coatings or surfaces in contact with cement/plaster without modification. Its MFT of 14°C also requires coalescent addition for application below 15°C. For improved water resistance, PVAc is modified with plasticizers or copolymerized with VeoVa or acrylic monomers.
