FAQ
PPG-2000 serves as the soft segment in WPU synthesis, contributing flexibility and low-temperature performance to the dispersion film. In a typical IPDI/DMPA-based WPU synthesis, PPG-2000 is reacted with excess IPDI at 70–80°C to form a prepolymer, which is chain-extended with a diamine after dispersion in water. The PPG-2000 segment's Tg of approximately –60°C ensures the final film remains flexible down to –20°C. Compared to polyester diols (e.g., PEA-1000), PPG-2000 provides better hydrolysis resistance because the ether linkage is more stable than the ester linkage, making it the preferred choice for waterborne PU coatings for outdoor flexible substrates.
