Mix paraformaldehyde hardener (96–98% purity) at 7–10 phr into the resin for 5 minutes until fully dispersed. Open assembly time at 20°C is 30–60 minutes; this shortens to 15–25 minutes at 30°C. Apply glue spread of 300–400 g/m² (double spread) for glulam laminations.

Yes. PRF-55 is formulated to meet EN 301 Type I (highest durability class), qualifying bonded assemblies for exterior and fully exposed service conditions including glulam certified to EN 14080 and LVL to EN 14374. Third-party qualification testing documentation is available on request.

Can PRF-55 be used on refractory species such as larch or Douglas fir?

Accepted Answer

PRF resins are well-suited to resinous and phenol-extractive-rich species that cause bond failure with UF systems. For high-extractive species, a light surface planing within 24 hours of bonding is recommended to expose fresh wood, and press time should be extended to the upper range (10–16 hours at 20°C cold press).
