FAQ
Maleic anhydride reacts with natural rosin via a Diels-Alder or ene reaction to form maleic-modified rosin (adduct). This increases the softening point, reduces crystallization tendency, improves compatibility with alkyd resins and solvents, and raises the acid value — beneficial for preparing water-dilutable or alkali-soluble varnishes for gravure and overprint ink applications.
