ECC undergoes cationic photopolymerization without needing radical photoinitiators, yielding coatings with very low shrinkage (<2%), excellent adhesion to metals and glass, and high Tg (>150°C). Unlike glycidyl-ether epoxies, cycloaliphatic epoxies are essentially free of aromatic rings, which delivers superior UV stability and low yellowing. They are widely used in LED encapsulants, optical fiber coatings, and high-speed UV inkjet inks where color stability and dielectric performance are critical.
