Elastic Acrylic Emulsion EA-200

Crack-bridging coatings on concrete facades must accommodate both existing cracks and thermal expansion/contraction microcracking that occurs seasonally. EA-200 is formulated with a very low Tg polymer (~–30°C) achieving elongation ≥300% at 23°C and ≥150% at –10°C, the critical requirement for northern climate exposure. A 300–500 μm DFT EA-200 film (dry) can bridge hairline cracks up to 0.3 mm that open cyclically without delamination. Performance is governed by EN 1062 class E3 (>300% elongation) requirements. Formulators typically add 0.5–1% defoamer and 2–3% associative thickener to EA-200 for sag-free vertical-surface application; silicone additives at 0.1–0.3% enhance water beading (contact angle >100°) complementing the elastomeric crack-bridging function.
