FAQ
The percolation threshold — the minimum carbon black concentration at which a continuous conductive network forms — is typically 5–20% by volume in the dry film, depending on CB structure (DBP absorption), aggregate morphology and the polymer matrix. High-structure furnace blacks with large aggregate networks percolate at lower volume fractions (~5–8%). At 20% dispersion solid content, the film must be applied at sufficient DFT and the formulation must be designed so that CB occupies the required volume fraction in the cured film, typically 15–25% for EMI shielding and 10–15% for ESD dissipation.
