Inherently conductive polymers (ICPs) like PEDOT:PSS in AS-200 achieve conductivity through the conjugated polymer backbone itself, without the need for a separate conductive filler. This enables transparent, ultra-thin films (1–5 µm) with consistent surface resistivity. Carbon black-based coatings require 15–25% loading of opaque filler, making films thicker, black/dark gray and with resistivity that varies batch to batch depending on dispersion quality. ICPs are preferred for optical, electronics packaging and precision ESD applications.
