CAB functions as a rheology modifier and orientation agent in metallic basecoat formulations. Its pseudoplastic viscosity profile improves aluminum and mica flake orientation (parallel to the substrate), enhancing metallic appearance and reducing mottling. CAB also improves intercoat adhesion between basecoat and clearcoat in OEM and refinish systems.
