AEH-40 exploits complementary properties: the epoxy component contributes excellent adhesion to steel (pull-off >5 MPa), low oxygen permeability, and corrosion inhibition; the acrylic component provides UV stability (no chalking after 1000h QUV), flexibility (elongation 40–80%), and lower cost. Pure waterborne epoxy systems chalk on UV exposure and require a separate topcoat; pure acrylic systems have limited adhesion to bare steel (pull-off ~2–3 MPa) and inadequate salt spray performance (<500 h). AEH-40 achieves salt spray resistance >500 hours and QUV stability >1000 hours in a single direct-to-metal coat, eliminating a production step and reducing total applied cost by 25–35%. This makes it the preferred choice for maintenance repainting of structural steel, agricultural equipment, and light commercial vehicles.
