Esmaltes a Forno Produtos Químicos
Perguntas Frequentes — Esmaltes a Forno Produtos Químicos
What crosslinkers are used in stoving coatings?
Melamine-formaldehyde (MF) resins — highly methylated (HMMM) or mixed ether types — are the dominant crosslinkers for alkyd, polyester, and acrylic stoving enamels at 140–160°C. Glycoluril (Powderlink 1174) crosslinks at lower temperatures (130°C). Benzoguanamine resins provide better chemical resistance for can coatings. Blocked isocyanates (blocked with MEKO or internal blocking) enable 1K PU stoving systems curing at 140–180°C.
How is cure response monitored for stoving enamels?
Cure response is evaluated by: MEK double-rub test (>100 for full cure), König pendulum hardness (80–120 s for well-cured acrylic MF systems), crosshatch adhesion (ASTM D3359 5B rating), and QUV accelerated weathering (ΔE < 1.5 after 500 h for exterior grades). Peak metal temperature (PMT) loggers verify that oven zones deliver correct cure energy. Under-cure shows low MEK resistance; over-cure causes embrittlement and adhesion loss.
What are the advantages of stoving coatings over air-dry systems?
Stoving coatings deliver: higher crosslink density and film hardness (H–4H pencil) unavailable in ambient cure systems, better chemical and solvent resistance, superior gloss (>90 GU at 60°) and gloss retention, faster production throughput (1–5 min oven dwell vs. hours of ambient drying), and consistent film quality. The major limitation is the requirement for heat-resistant substrates and capital investment in curing ovens.
